DETECT - Proteus

@judith-klempner aka Proteus explores industrial, experimental, and modernist electronics. From the avant-garde pioneers of electronic music to the roaring and raging industrial techno of today. A cross-section thread of the dark and challenging, celebrating the urge to dance and move through caustic noise, visceral and feral sound. A product of the industrial North and its heritage in electronic music, Proteus has become a staple artist of London’s underground queer techno scene. She initially ran her eponymous club night from Rye Wax in the heart of Peckham, determined to bring forward forgotten 80s electronics. Proteus focused on coldwave and post-punk, the broad spectrum of goth and industrial, to playing the techno inspired by it. In this set, she pushes at the boundaries of industrial techno, with a hard and experimental edge. Power electronics and noise as a counterpoint to pounding kick drums. Beguiling, intense and hypnotic.
